How to navigate the schedule: The conference schedule is hosted by Sched.com which allows you to search within the schedule, and filter the schedule to show sessions only occurring on a certain day or time.

You can build your own schedule by creating a free account with Sched.com by selecting "SIGN UP" in the top right corner. To use the filter options, find the "Filter by Type" heading on the right side of the page and select one of the sessions.   A navigation bar will appear, showing all of the tracks.  Hovering over the "Schedule" tab at the top of the agenda will show the different ways to view the schedule.

How does Shelburne Museum portray the American Dream? Shelburne Community School’s Partnership with the Shelburne Museum
Eighth grade students on the Holden Team defined personal American Dreams and explored the American Dream in novels, history and at the Shelburne Museum. With support from Shelburne Museum Educators, each small group created thesis statements and used the museum as research. Hear our story about the experience, research, and exhibit they displayed at the museum.

Heart-Rate Monitoring and Personalized Learning in Phys Ed
Students will share how using heart rate monitoring technology in Physical Education at Crossett Brook Middle School personalizes learning and increases student motivation to be physically active. Presenters will demonstrate how the use of heart rate monitor watches enables learners to self-assess and adjust effort in class (from the instant, object feedback the monitors provide) so that they can reach (and maintain) a fitness-enhancing level of participation.  Time permitting, student presenters will also coach each audience member through the process of using a heart rate monitor so they can see first-hand how the personalized feedback motivates and actively engages all learners.

Harnessing Student Energy as a Path to Proficiency
At Harwood Union High School, students within the school’s shared leadership team are creating a “passage presentation” for ninth graders that provides a structure for using personalized learning plans and digital portfolios as vehicles for demonstrating proficiency. In this session, co-principal Amy Rex and her students will share how they are harnessing student energy to build criteria for meeting proficiency-based graduation requirements and communicating it to their peers.

From Auto-mechanics to Neuroscience: Purposeful, Proficiency-based Senior Projects
Compass School has been successfully challenging seniors to complete independent projects for fourteen years. As the facilitator of these required culminating projects, I will share my curriculum, sample projects, and testimonials from students. Materials include an overview for students and parents, formative and summative assessments, sample report card (using proficiencies), and timeline. I will explain how students plan and implement projects that are both personally meaningful and challenging.

Build a Digital Portfolio in Google Sites
Portfolio assessment allows students to develop their metacognitive skills.This hands-on workshop is for teachers whose students have access to Google accounts. The goal is to create a website with 1 types of pages: Home, Blog, and pages for classwork or projects. Newbury Dragon Award: PBL in a K/1 Classroom
Based on Vermont’s Red Clover Award, the Newbury Dragon Award is a tech-infused PBL initiative that takes student voice and choice and parent involvement to a richer level. As members of the school library’s Picture Book Committee, students develop criteria for choosing 7 new picture books. Activities and companion book recommendations are created. Then, fellow K-2 students are invited to read and vote for the winner!
