I have spent the last 25+ years developing educational software for a variety of clients. I have managed the engineering departments for several companies, including his own, and been luck enough to win several awards for software design. I enjoy bringing Open Source software and hardware solutions to schools to help maximize their technology dollars and close the digital divide between students of diverse economic backgrounds. As the founder of the National Center for Open Source and Education, I have been an invited keynote speaker at educational technology conferences in both the U.S. and internationally.
I am currently focused on creating open software and hardware solutions to help schools and small businesses increase engagement using the Internet of Things. In 2014, I was awarded the Frank Watson Outstanding Technology Educator Award for service, vision and leadership.
In my spare time, I enjoy making a variety of not-so-serious Internet of Things devices.
